Delay your travel plans until conditions improve.  If you need provisions please plan accordingly and plan to stay off the roads during this weather event.  Travel may be impossible in some circumstances and power and landlines may be impacted.  County plows may be greatly delayed as well as emergency services.  Please make smart decisions regarding your travel and be prepared.  Heaviest snow is anticipated to begin at 12pm on Wednesday March 13 and will continue until Friday morning.  Current estimates have the Gold Hill area possibly receiving up to 34″ in total accumulation during that period.  Thanks for your time and be safe.

Dear Gold Hill Fire Protection District Residents,
As you are probably aware, there is a major winter storm predicted to move in sometime Wednesday evening and snow until sometime Friday. Several inches are predicted for the plains, with unknown totals expected for the mountains, but we are in the predicted 2-3 feet area. Local news weather reporters are stating travel in the foothills and mountains may be impossible.

Residents should be prepared to shelter in place for a few days. Travel is discouraged. If you have chronic health issues, please consider your needs, as emergency response may be delayed. Power and phones could also be impacted by this storm because of wet heavy snow.

Check on your neighbors. Help folks shovel out paths to front doors for emergency access. Keep vents on your roofs clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide from backing up into your house. Test your CO detector. If you need to use your fireplace, has your chimney been cleaned out lately? What is your plan? Please ask your neighbors for help.
