Wildfire Partners
![]() ![]() Where’s Your Wood Pile?
If your neighborhood is anything like mine, you’ve been seeing a lot of sawing, splitting and stacking going on the last few weeks. As we enter the month of September, everyone’s assembling their wood pile for the winter. If you are entirely dependent on wood stoves for heat, that pile could include several cords.
But from a wildfire mitigation perspective, where should you be stacking your wood?
Chipping Program Wrapped Up for the Season
“Want to give a shout out to the awesome chipping crew who came by and picked up our slash!” emailed one happy homeowner.
Many thanks to the more than 400 homeowners who participated in our curbside chipping program this season.
Chipping Coordinator, Chris Hall headed up the hardworking team of Nick Triantis and Chad Gustafson who worked 10-hour days making slash piles disappear. You can email your comments of gratitude for the chipping crew to help make sure this program continues in future years.
Details about next year’s program will be available next April through our website and via email.
Final Inspections
It’s not too late to get certified in 2021!
As we move towards fall, now’s a great time to follow up with your mitigation specialist and schedule your final inspection. It takes less than an hour to complete and we schedule Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Give us a call or drop us an email to schedule your final inspection today.
Firewise Landscaping Bark Mulch
If you’ve just moved to the mountains from the suburbs, you might be wanting to use bark mulch around your shrubs and trees.
Bark mulch is tinder fuel for embers and can ignite easily. It’s particularly dangerous when used in the first five feet around your home or around mature conifer trees.
Remove bark mulch from Zone 1 and consider replacing it with pea-size gravel or river rock.
