 Wildfire Awareness Month in full swing

Boulder County, Colo. – October is Wildfire Awareness Month in Boulder County and offers residents many opportunities to better prepare their homes and communities for future wildfires.

 

Contest

As part of the month-long campaign, the Wildfire Mitigation Challenge encourages landowners to complete specific weekly wildfire mitigation tasks. Participants are eligible to win prizes like a Stihl chainsaw and hardware store gift cards.

 

Events and activities

Events throughout the month encourage homeowners to take action to prepare for future fires. Offerings include workshops on how to implement wildfire mitigation measures and how to properly insure a mountain home, several free of charge community chipping days, volunteer forestry projects, natural history hikes, forest tours and much more.
