![]() ![]() Are You Under Insured?
“It’s gone. Our house is gone.”
I could hear the sadness and despair in their voice. My heart went out to my friends who lost their home in a recent wildfire. What could be more gut wrenching than losing your home, your personal belongings? It’s the worst kind of heartache.
But many homeowners who’ve lost their home confront another rude awakening once they navigate the insurance process. Replacing all their belongings and rebuilding their home will cost far more than the insurance claim pays out.
We Need Your 60-second Mitigation Update!
Did you have your initial assessment sometime in the last three years (2019-2021)?
Are you still working on your mitigation?
We need your 60-second update as part of closing out our FEMA grant. For those who already took the survey when it was sent by email, no need to take it again. Similarly, those who’ve passed final inspection (certified) do not need to respond.
All others, please give us one minute of your time and take the survey to provide data we can use to close out our grant.
Sort Yards Closing Dates
Last call to get rid of slash! If you’ve got slash on your property, you can still dispose of it by hauling it to one of the two Boulder County sort yards.
But not for long…
The Meeker Park Sort Yard outside of Allenspark will be closing for the season Saturday, October 16. The Nederland Sort Yard’s last day will be Saturday, October 23.
After that point, options are limited to paying to take slash to Western Disposal’s yard waste facility.
As a reminder, the sort yards do not take stumps, construction materials or any kind of trash.
Let’s Talk Mitigation! Wednesday evening
Join staff members Abby Silver and Leslie Brodhead to discuss wildfire mitigation questions and concerns.
This month we’ll be talking about insurance. Did you know that an estimated 60% of homeowners living in the wildfire zone in Boulder County are under insured?
