Ballots begin to be mailed Monday

Voter Registration continues through Election Day, Tuesday, November 8

Boulder County, Colo. – Elections in Colorado are conducted by mail with Voter Service and Polling Centers available for those who would like additional assistance with voting or who prefer to vote in person. All active registered voters will be automatically mailed a ballot to the address on their voter registration record the week of Oct. 17.

The mailed ballot packets include a detailed list of ballot drop-off locations including many 24-hour ballot drop-boxes throughout Boulder County. Since the printing of the Voter Instructions, we have added one new 24-hour box at Garden Acres Park in Longmont. The box is located on 18th Avenue between Sunset and Juniper and opens on Monday when ballots are mailed out.

The mail ballot packet also includes a list of Voter Service and Polling Centers that will be open to the public. The first phase of Voter Service Centers opens Oct. 24. The second phase of Voter Service Centers open the day before the election, Monday, Nov. 7, including an additional voter service center, not listed in the Voter Instructions, at the City of Boulder municipal building, 1777 Broadway.

Whether voting by mail or voting in-person, voters are encouraged to complete their ballot as soon as they have decided how they are going to vote. Voting early helps reduce political campaign phone calls for the public and assists the county in being able to process ballots throughout the election period, not just on one night.

The Boulder County Elections Division encourages all voters to register or check their registration to ensure that their mailing address is correct. If you moved recently or provided an alternative address during a past election (due to travel or other circumstances for absentee voting), our office may not have your most current address and ballots are not forwarded by the postal service. Voters can register or check their registration details at www.BoulderCountyVotes.org.

While eligible voters may register up to and including Election Day (22-day residency required), the Elections Division encourages everyone to register early in order to ensure that they receive their mail ballot in a timely fashion. Voters who register or change their registration after Oct. 31 must request a ballot in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center.

Key Dates for the 2015 Coordinated Election:

October 17

• Ballots are mailed to active voters
• Voter services available at Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s Office in Boulder
• All 24-hour Ballot Drop Boxes open

October 24 

• Voter Service and Polling Centers open

October 31

• Last day to register and still receive a ballot in the mail

November 4

• Drive-by Ballot Drop-off locations open

November 8 General Election 

• Ballot drop-off and voting services available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. to be counted.
