 Dear Property Owner,

Boulder County Parks & Open Space received a grant from the Colorado Historical Society to continue its efforts to complete historical and architectural surveys of properties 50 years of age or older in unincorporated Boulder County.  Seven previous phases of this survey have been completed in various areas of the County with the Four Mile Canyon Fire area selected as the focus for this phase.

If you own an older home in the areas of Salina, Summerville, Sunshine, Wallstreet, Gold Hill or nearby area, your property may be included in this project. The historical and architectural survey is a standard method used across the state to identify buildings 50 years of age and older that may have historical significance. This survey is for information gathering purposes only and will document basic construction and historical background information on 35 properties. Interior access is not required for this project and all information necessary for this project will usually be obtained from the public right-of-way, library research and talking with residents.

At the conclusion of this project, the owners of the properties that were part of the project will be able to view online the information that resulted from the project. There is no further action required and does not obligate you in any way to do anything with the information you receive.

Boulder County staff will present information about this project at a community meeting on June 27 at 7 p.m. at the Salina School (536 Gold Run Road). At the conclusion of this project in June 2013, Boulder County will present the findings of this project at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Boulder County Historic Preservation Advisory Board.

Historical and architectural survey projects contribute to our growing understanding of Boulder County’s historic resources and the historic communities affected by the Four Mile Fire are an important part of Boulder County’s history.
