Help Save the Merc!

Dear Gold Hill neighbors,

The Jamestown Merc is a local treasure that serves our mountain
community by feeding our souls and our bodies.  It’s been called
“the living room of Jamestown” that not only serves delicious food,
but also hosts music events, trivia and bingo parties, and serves
wood-fired pizza in the town park across the street on Friday nights.

And now the Merc needs our support.  The building is for sale,
and Merc owner Rainbow Schultz wants to purchase it for the
community and to continue operating the restaurant.  Go to
savethemerc.org for more detailed information.

To support Rainbow’s efforts, I’m hosting a zydeco dance party at
the Merc on Tuesday, August 4, 7-10 p.m., $15 cover per person.
All proceeds will go to Save the Merc.  The band is Curley Taylor
and Zydeco Trouble from Sunset, Louisiana, one of the top zydeco
bands in the country.  If zydeco music is new to you, come join us
and feel the energy and enthusiasm that makes you get up and move!
Cover price includes a zydeco dance lesson from 6:30-7:00.
Beverages will be available for purchase, but the kitchen will be
closed.

Please try to carpool to Jamestown to help alleviate a limited-parking
issue similar to that here in Gold Hill.  Across the street from the Merc
is a public lot, as well as one at the post office next to it.
