Goat Hill Grazers

Hello Gold Hill and nearby Neighbors,
Wanted to let you know of a brand new service available in our area for weed and fire mitigation:

Goat Hill Grazers!       www.goathillgrazers.com

We’ve been doing a bit of weed eating here on the Ranch with goats since 1997, but I’ve been researching their use for both weed eating and fire mitigation and find that both are being done in areas of the west, with great success. Living Systems Innovative Land Management  has this to say:
“Ecological Fuel Load Reduction with grazing animals can take place at any time of the year, even during the rainy season.  Planned grazing is also an effective way to manage the regrowth of brush and scrub after fire has moved through an area.  Goats will remove heavy fuel loads in areas where brush is too thick to penetrate.  Managed intensive Grazing can reduce the volume, thickness, height, and breadth of brush enclosements, returning areas to a living greenbelt…Grazing has always been and continues to be an integral component of the fire system…Goats and grazing animals have been used for countless years as land management tools and are a popular alternative to the conventions of mowing, disking and burning.”
Goats eat the dry stuff before the fire season strikes.  Goat hooves till and aerate the soil and trample in their own fertilizer.  Goats can eliminate the use of herbicides and pesticides, and they eat poisonous plants.  They are eco-friendly! (Ewe4ic Geological Services)

I’m still in the beginning stages of this whole venture and will be offering special weekend rates this initial year.  I think that it can be a good deal for all of us.  May it be so!
Please see the website, and let me know if you have an interest in scheduling this season.  http://www.goathillgrazers.com We’re on FACEBOOK as well…
Thanks much,    Kathleen
