FIRE CHIEF’S MINUTES: Chief Gibson, Chief O’Brien and Assistant Chief DeBroux
OPERATIONAL NEEDS: OPERATIONAL UPDATES: TRAINING:

● Dave Wilson and Leslie are doing a scenario based training on past calls.
● New volunteers- What can we do to improve recruiting efforts? Quarterly Orientation/Onboarding with a minimum of three per group?
● Orientation dinner with 3-4 new recruits scheduled with Fourmile for February 12. We will be trying a more formal orientation process this year and partnering with Fourmile.
MAINTENANCE:
● Station maintenance- Any immediate needs?
Is Overhead Heater downstairs now working properly? -Max EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

VEHICLES:
- ● Engine 5404, 5402, 5439 and UTV- Update on apparatus
maintenance- Max
NEED TO FIGURE OUT CHAINS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT AND FIGURE OUT MOUNTING OF THE PUMP ON THE UTV.
- ● Purchase of a new Engine for 2024? FEMA grant could help with funding for such a purchase.
INVENTORY:
- ● Determine a time where a group could meet to discuss large and small
capital equipment replacements for 2024.- Bret
WE SHOULD COLOR CODE WHAT EQUIPMENT GOES ON WHAT TRUCK SO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT GOES WHERE. COME UP WITH AN EQUIPMENT DESIRE.
GENERAL:
- ● Firefighter ID’s- Bret
- ● Establishing minimum criteria to be considered a volunteer- REACH OUT TO CADRE OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS REGARDING THEIR OPINION ON WHAT THOSE MINIMUMS COULD BE
ADMINISTRATIVE:
- ● For 2024 GHFPD will be looking to hire a part time, 40 hours a
month, Chief. Job description and posting will occur in February.
- ● Need a decision on the final version of job posting, where it will be
posted, and deadlines. __________________________________________________________________
OTHER BUSINESS:
GRANTS- Kris Gibson, Jess, Bret
● From Kris Gibson- We have not applied for the FEMA grant
for some time. Her concern was needing more time for internal capacity and infrastructure to provide the necessary grant documents as well as tracking and reporting requirements. It feels like the Board and the department are closer to that goal.
Direction for Kris as to applying this year or next? What would be our priority? Vehicles? Station Renovation? Larger Equipment needs? She would vote for a Command Type Vehicle or Pickup Truck.
● Kris Gibson is working on the DFPC grant which is due by the end of the month. She had questions whether we needed to identify our intent to file for this grant in the budget, which was something prior GH leadership had requested from her.
