Fred Bores Memorial Thursday 4pm

A celebration of life for Fred Bores will be held at the Gold Hill Cemetery on Thursday, July 2nd at 4pm, It will be followed by a small gathering at the Gold Hill Inn Beer Garden at 5pm.

Fred was a longtime resident of Gold Hill for nearly two decades beginning in the early 1990s.  His joy of helping others coupled with his love of history and expertise in as a master electrictian led him to contribute to the Gold Hill community as a member of the  Gold Hill Historic Zoning committee and as a board member of the Gold Hill History Museum.

He also loved being part of the greater Boulder County community, and was a steadfast supporter behind the scenes of numerous Boulder institutions and through his quietly generous philanthropic support of various Boulder community organizations & non-profits. He actively supported the early events of Boulder PRIDE – the pre-cursor to Rocky Mountain Equality – and BCAP, the Boulder Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and later, the Flatirons Food Film Festival.

Born & raised in Woodhaven, New York, Fred came of age in the 1960s. He made the pilgrimage to Woodstock – though due to the half a million strong, only got as far as the road to Yasgur’s farm.  He was an adamant, genuine “conscientious objector” during that generation’s war.  When he moved out west in the late 1970s, he enjoyed rafting many miles of the Yampa, Green, San Juan & other tributaries of the Colorado River.

Fred passed away in October 2025 at age 77.

Join his family, friends and neighbors on Thursday, July 2nd at 4pm at the Gold Hill Cemetery. Afterwards we will gather at the Beer Garden at the Gold Hill Inn at 5pm.
