Community History Outreach

August 11, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Just a reminder to save the date for our second annual “Community History Outreach” for this year.  Last year your museum hosted a presentation about the female artists of the late 19th century and the start of the 20th century.  These female artists painted scenes of the front range which coincided with our exhibit on the Bluebirds of Gold Hill.  Thanks to the efforts of many people, the Bluebird exhibit was a huge success and we were the recipients of an award for the Gold Hill Museum and its work!  Many thanks to Laurie Britton-Newell for her tireless work and support of our efforts.

This year on Friday evening, August 11th we will be celebrating with you once again.  We at the museum are focusing on Ann and Ward Yeager and local mining.  We will have two guest speakers:  Ed Raines, instructor at the School of Mines speaking to us regarding Ward Yeager, his mine, The Copper King, and Gold Hill and Boulder County Mining.  Chellee Courtney, our past President of the Museum Board and local historian will be speaking on the female part of this team, Ann Yeager, her life in Gold Hill as a teacher at the school, her life with Ward, a member and landlady of our community,  and her education and life before Gold Hill.  Additionally, several people will make up a team for sharing their tales and memories of the Yeagers following the presentation.  We invite you to share with us any anecdotal materials you have on the Yeagers as well.  All of this will be video recorded for our archival memories of Gold Hill.  We’re hoping that you’ll plan on attending.

The cocktail party will begin at 5:30 pm in John and Cherry Sand’s back yard.  Please join us for this fun and informative evening.  The presentation officially begins at 6 pm.

This is our special presentation this year created especially for you, our community, on the history of Gold Hill.  Each year our exhibits change as we move from subject to subject.  We know that many of you are passionate about our history and we at the museum are proud to be your stewards and protectors of the museum.  We take a great deal of pride in our efforts and give many hours of our time to keep this gift available for you and future generations of Gold Hill. We’re hoping that you appreciate our efforts and join us for this fun event.
