2015 Spring Clean Up

June 7, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

2015 Spring Clean Up

Sunday, June 7,

9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Bluebird Lodge parking lot.

DIVERSION is the focus this year. Boulder County will support our diversion efforts, but is no longer providing any money for trash disposal. Therefore, we will only be getting one dumpster for trash and, since we will have to pay for it, we will need to charge (rate sheet at the end).

Four Dumpsters will arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. – 1 for junk/trash (we will need to collect a fee for trash), one for metal, one for wood and this year, one for the recyclables listed below – Please don’t come with stuff earlier than that.

***And, as always, we need volunteers to help!***

To volunteer, please contact Kris Gibson at kgkeewee@nullnetzero.net (303-545-9670) or Gretchen at gretchend@nullmac.com (303-442-3847).

DIVERSION Container – this is the first year the County has provided this service and it’s free!

Couches, upholstered furniture, and mattresses. Electronics and small appliances. (see http://www.ecocycle.org/charm). Mixed rigid plastics (playground stuff, coolers, etc.) Tires. Refrigerators or freezers!

REVISION AS OF JUNE 1, We cannot take upholstered furniture (couches, chairs, etc.) it turns out.  The diversion outlet unexpectedly closed on June 1, and the County has not been able to find anyone else for this year, although they think it will reopen for next year.  They will be bringing up only two pickups instead of a dumpster, so, please, don’t bring large furniture to dispose of this year.

        METAL Container

No liquidsNo fridgesNo tires on rims (just rims are ok!)No batteriesNo paint cans with paint still in them. We will take fridges and tires this year, but they have to go in the diversion dumpster.

Wire fencing and barbed wire are ok

WOOD Container

No chemically treated wood including stains and paint – No nails in the wood (although a few seem to be ok, just not an excessive amount) – No particleboard. Slash is ok – no longer than 18” (be judicious with this – there is only one dumpster and it can’t take a forest of slash)

        TRASH Container

No recyclables. We need to pay for this and will need to charge for trash.

$12 per car, van, or SUV (less for just a few things)

$18 per pick-up truck or trailer full

$25 per vehicle with trailer

We will also accept electronics, and small appliances. See http://www.ecocycle.org/charm for what’s acceptable.

We will also accept yard waste, pine needles, etc. in compostable bags. Time to start mitigating around your homes (again)!

No single stream recyclables because we know that you know what to do with this stuff – take it to Ecocycle!

Any propane bottles must be vented and this means the entire top mechanism must be removed. Just opening it does not suffice.

Isn’t it amazing how stuff piles up! This is your chance to clear it out once again!
