I have been having lots and lots of trouble for the last 9 months with my telephone sporadically dropping phone calls whenever I call or receive telephone calls from my friends and neighbors in the Gold Hill area.  After much frustration and threats of calling the PUC and reporting my poor service, I finally got the ear of a executive in the Denver office.  While they are working hard to repair my dropped call issue, I also mentioned that I have been charged city taxes on a monthly basis from CenturyLink, which was brought to my attention by a neighbor.  I apparently am not the first to contact the company regarding this, but because of having the ear of someone in the Denver Corporate offices, we are now getting somewhere.

 

I received a telephone call today and have been told that Max and I have wrongly paid $94.00 in city taxes and occupational taxes since May of 2011, that will now be credited to our account.  I’ve also been told that it may take a couple of months to clear up this error and to watch my billing statement in the event that it reoccurs.  I mentioned that we in the Gold Hill area are all potentially getting billed for these erroneous taxes and have been told to let everyone know in the area and CenturyLink will take care of checking your statement; however, CenturyLink won’t do it unless you write them a short note.   They need your signature requesting them to check into your bill if indeed you are being charged these taxes.

I tried to get Jeff to accept an e mail from us but he refused stating that he needs your signature for privacy issues.

 

I strongly encourage you to check your bills.  If you contact Jeff, he will check them back to April, 2011.  Apparently the city taxes did not appear in April, 2011, but stated appearing in May, 2011.  My hunch is that if you are being charged city taxes now, you’ve probably been charged these taxes since May, 2011, and will have a credit due.

 

Finally, if you’re having challenges with your telephone, mention it to Jeff.  I’ve been told that sometimes when one customer’s phone gets fixed in Gold Hill, someone else starts having challenges.
