Sunset Trail Running Festival 6-23-24

Join us on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, for the Sunset Trail Running Festival in Gold Hill, CO! Hosted by The Boulder Watershed Collective and in collaboration with Team Boulder, all money raised from the event will be donated to the town of Gold Hill and will fund wildfire preparation and response initiatives such as forest restoration, home hardening, emergency planning, land stewardship, and community resiliency.
Gold Hill residents can use discount codes: GOLDHILLKID is free registration for the 1k race (12 & under), and GOLDHILLRESIDENT is for 20% off registration for adults! We’d love to have as many Gold Hill folks as possible!
If anyone is interested in volunteering for aid stations, hours would be 7am-ish to 12pm-ish for action work. You can reach out to me at cat@nullboulderwatershedcollective.org to sign up for that support.
Thank you!
Best,
Cat

Italian Pop Up Dinner GH Pub

Hoping you all figured out that Mike meant 6-19 and 6-21 (not July).  Here’s the announcement again:

Italian Pop-Up Dinner at the Gold Hill Store

Wednesday 6/19-Friday 6/21

Join us next week to partake in the homemade Italian delicacies of the Giuliani Family! You can expect a curated menu of Italian favorites, wine pairings, and an aperitif bar in the back of the Store serving up all the Aperol Spritz’s you need while you wait for your table in the sunshine.

Last year’s French pop-up was such a smashing success, thanks in large part to the support of our community members. And we heard your requests for some important changes on our next round. So, we’ll be taking reservations this time around, and invite our fellow town members to the first grab of the best times!

This Thursday and Friday, reservations will be reserved for locals only. To make a reservation, just call the Store at (303) 443-7724

A few things to note; due to space limitations, we’re only accepting one party of 6 per night. All other party sizes will be limited to 4 people (or less) If you’ve got a large party in mind, make sure to call now and snag our one larger seating on your evening of choice! Reservations will be opened to the general public by Friday evening, menus available next week.

Hope to see you there!

Town Clean Up Success – thanks to all helpers!

We had a beautiful day and lots of people came to help.  Many thanks to the intrepid helpers: Kris Gibson, Maggie Simms, Toni Stepanek, Val Crist, Nick Walford, Chad Miltenberger, Dan Maedke, Bear Carlson and Poppy Copeland, Steffi Wilson, John Hatelid, Jeff Fishbaugh, Marcus Moench and Elisabeth Caspari, Paul Landeskroener and Marybeth Neal, Mark Jordahl and Devin Hibbard, and all assorted folks who came and went, and to Max for coming with his machine and mashing town the dumpsters.  Michal Duffy, our County Resource person, organized the crews who took away the tires, mattresses, electronics, HHW and helped us with everything, too.  It’s a great community effort!  Lots of stuff/trash/general clutter/some remains of the big tree by the firebarn that went down a big wind are  gone!  Thanks to all, Gretchen

Don’t Forget – Spring Clean Up this Saturday 6-15-24

2024 Spring Clean Up

Saturday, June 15, 2024

9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Bluebird Lodge parking lot.

For all within the Town Meeting boundaries

DIVERSION is the focus again this year.  Boulder County is a great support for our diversion/recycling efforts, but they are no longer providing any money for trash disposal.  We will be getting two dumpsters for trash and we will have to pay for them ($638 per dumpster), so we will need to charge (rate sheet at the end).

Four Dumpsters will arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. – 2 for junk/trash (we will need to collect a fee for trash and donations for the diversion stuff), one for metal, one for wood – slash and general wood/lumber as in the past.  Please don’t come with stuff earlier than 9:00.

***And, yes, please, we need volunteers to help!***

To volunteer, please contact me, Gretchen Diefenderfer, at gretchend@nullmac.com  (303-442-3847). Thank You!

DIVERSION (see http://www.ecocycle.org/charm).

Styrofoam

Tires – no rims.

Electronics, small appliances

Appliances – refrigerators!

Mattresses

Household hazardous waste (HHW)

            Oil, Antifreeze

           Car batteries

            Latex paint

METAL Container – No liquids – No fridges – No tires on rims (just rims are ok!) – No batteries No paint cans with paint still in them.  We will take fridges and tires this year, but they have to go in the diversion trucks [there will be one for tires and appliances, one for HHW, one for mattresses, and more for electronics.   Wire fencing and barbed wire are ok

WOOD Container – No chemically treated wood including stain or paint – No nails in the wood (although a few seem to be ok, just not an excessive amount) – No particleboard.  Slash is ok – no longer than 18” (be judicious with this – there is only one dumpster and it can’t take a forest of slash)

TRASH  Containers  – junk – No recyclables!  We need to pay for this and will need to charge for trash. We also request donations for the diversion items.  Please remember that it would be much more expensive to take a truckload to the dump or to Nederland (trash taken to Nederland is charged $16 per cubic yard – see https://bouldercounty.gov/environment/trash/nederland-transfer-and-recycle/#1601564428438-33e156fc-5926 for their fees).

         $5 per large trash bag

$20  per car, van, or SUV (less for just a few things)

$35 per pick-up truck or trailer full

            $35 – 40 per vehicle with trailer

Repurposing – We encourage people to bring stuff that others might want.  Be prepared to pick these items up if no one wants them, or for them to go into the dumpsters.  We will take some stuff down to donate in Boulder, either to second hand stores or to Resource 2000 – would love volunteers to help with this.

Any propane bottles must be vented and this means the entire top mechanism must be removed.  Just opening it does not suffice. We made this mistake once and it cost us

It’s amazing how much stuff piles up!  This is your chance to clear that stuff out!

And, yes, please, we need volunteers to help –  please contact me, Gretchen, at gretchend@nullmac.com or 303-442-3847    THANK YOU!

Thanks from the GH School

Hello, GH School Friends!

Thank you so much to all of you who came out to support the Gold Hill School kids in their performance of The Magic Record Player: A Miracle in Memphis!  We loved performing for you.  Your attendance really made the experience what it was.  If you see the students around town, please make sure to congratulate them.

Many people have asked to see the recording.  It doesn’t really do the experience justice, but we’re thankful to have the video.  You can watch it here:
