Aspen trees for the Gold Hill Cemetery in 2014

Due to a generous donation from the parents of a young couple married at the Gold Hill Inn last spring, Gold Hill has purchased 60 seedling aspen trees from Colorado’s seedling tree program.  They are earmarked for the town cemetery.

We need volunteers to adopt one or several of these little trees when they are delivered next week. Volunteers will decide where to plant “their” tree(s) –you may have a family member or good friend in the cemetery you think should have an Aspen or two, and the Annex needs some trees also.  You will need to water them weekly for at least one and preferably two years while they grow sufficient roots to be on their own.  Your watering schedule will be your own.

WE are planning two work parties: Sunday, May 18, and Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m., to get together and plant our trees.  Bring work gloves and tools if you have them (shovels and/or post-hole diggers).  We will bring some, but won’t have enough for everyone.  Also, bring 1-2 gallons of water for each of your trees. We’ll take some pictures to send to the donors so they can see their donation a work.
