One of our neighbors, asked me to write this letter for distribution to the Gold Hill Town list. Her Internet is not working.

She found a message on her land line from a Chief Deputy Sloan, telling her that she failed to respond to a jury summons and warned her to pay $496.56 immediately. Supposedly the summons was dropped off at “her front door”. He left a phone number for her to call: 303-416-4456, press #1. She returned the call only to be called a criminal if she does not comply and that she can do so with a “Green Dot Card”.

The scammer’s phone system sounded rather realistic by offering other options to press at the Sheriff’s Department. Upon pressing #1 a real voice came on who repeated that she is now a criminal. She expressed skepticism, at which point the voice told her to immediately report to the Boulder Sheriff’s Office at 5600 Flatirons Pkwy. She did, only to be told by the officer that she is not the first one from Dixon Rd who has been scammed by this guy.
