Dear GHS Parents,

You are cordially invited to join us on Thursday, May 22nd at 1:00 for an important presentation on pollinator health.  The K-5 students will be presenting their research from approximately 1:00-2:00.  From approximately 2:00-3:00, we will be having a guest speaker, Mr. Tom Theobold.  Tom is the owner of the Niwot Honey Farm and owns around 350 hives.  Tom is one of the founders of the Boulder County Beekeeper’s Association, and has been a national leader in the fight against neonicotinoid pesticides in use on the market.  This family of pesticides has been fingered around the world as the number one culprit in causation of Colony Collapse Disorder.  This will be an incredibly informative presentation that you will not want to miss.
Additionally, next Thursday, the 15th, we will be having two guest speakers: Carol Kearns and Diana Oliveras.  These amazing women are both entomologist from CU who specialize in pollinator health and integrated pest management.  They will be doing a talk with the kids at 1:00, followed by some outside time to look for various insects.
Finally, another CU researcher, Chelsea Cook will be joining us on Tuesday, May 27th.  Chelsea also studies honeybees, specifically their communication and division of labor.  She will also be presenting to the children about her research.
You are all very welcome and encouraged to attend all of these presentations, as they promise to be fascinating.  Feel free to bring a friend as well.
Thank you, All!
