Subject: Ballot Question 5C
Chief,

As you know, I spent nearly 30 years working for the CO State Forest Service here in Boulder County. I am still involved with forest management activities on the Front Range and throughout Colorado. Ballot Question 5C is an important first step in providing for a long-term funding mechanism to conduct forest improvement and fuels reduction work. There seems to be however some confusion and misinformation about the issue. If passed this would only create the Forest Improvement District and Board of Directors which FPD Chiefs and mountain resident s WILL BE a part of. It does not create the funding mechanism portion of the program. That would happen at a later date. My point and goal right now is to keep the opportunity for this program alive. In this way, those involved will have a year or more to learn about the issue and have the debate based on the facts and merits of the issue. I have attached several items for your review and use if you so desire. The fact sheet and information sheet can be disseminated as you wish. The two letters are ones that I have sent to local media outlets. You may use these or edit them if you want. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or comments on this. Thanks for your time – take care!
