Message from the Gold Hill Fire Board and the Chief

Folks

We just received the new property tax assessment from Boulder County. The GHFPD tax base has gone down by 30% as opposed to the 15% that was originally estimated after the fire.  This will mean that the GHFPD will be receiving significantly less in yearly operating revenue.  For the 2012 budget, we will be collecting $14,337.00 less than last year and some decreasing amount less in the years to follow until houses are rebuilt and the tax base recovers.  While we did receive much-appreciated funds from the Community Foundation, and some of that was budgeted to replace our loss of tax revenue, we had planned to use a significant amount of these funds for upgrading our old trucks in the future. In order to preserve those funds in our future truck fund, we are now looking at additional ways to raise money; the pancake breakfast will not cover this loss.  Please let Chris or any member of the Fire Board know of any ideas you have.
