See below for information on a new rebate program for purchase of backup battery/power solutions for folks with durable medical equipment. It is my understanding that if folks cannot afford to purchase and install products and wait for a rebate, that Xcel will work directly with vendors to purchase equipment for these customers. Please see the link below for additional information as I do not have the details, just passing along the info.
Thank you and be safe!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Colorado PSPS Battery Rebate Program

Good morning,

I am excited to announce that our Colorado PSPS Battery Rebate Program has been officially launched!

What is the Colorado PSPS Battery Rebate Program?

Xcel Energy serves customers in areas with medium and high wildfire risk. Some customers in these areas may use medical equipment at home that requires electricity.

Xcel Energy will offer a rebate of up to $10,000 for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for Colorado residential customers enrolled in our medical certification program and living in Tier 2 or Tier 3 wildfire risk zones.

To reduce wildfire risk, Xcel Energy may temporarily turn off power in specific areas. This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). A home battery can help provide power for medical equipment during a PSPS. This can give you more time to make a plan to get to safety after a PSPS is announced.

Who is eligible?

Customers may qualify if all of the statements below apply:
  • You are an Xcel Energy residential electric customer in Colorado.
  • You are enrolled in the Medical Certification program or the Colorado Medical Exemption Program.
  • You live in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 wildfire risk zone.

For more information, please visit our Colorado Medical Exemption Program Webpage and scroll down to the “Colorado PSPS Battery Rebate Program” section.

Your feedback is very important to us; please share it with me!

Kind regards,
