Hello Gold Hill!

First, I want to introduce myself for anyone who doesn’t know me, I’m Kelly and I’m your new Town Council Chair. If you don’t yet know me, you certainly know my daughter Gus, or my dog Scout- both of whom serve as the welcoming crew for anyone walking up and down Main St. 

I’m following up on a message last week about the Business District Committee, as I have heard some questions and confusion on who to contact about it. 

The intent of the Business District Committee is to find creative solutions to some of the growing pains associated with business within our town: noise, congestion, and parking. We are seeking a diverse set of perspectives, personal experiences, and ideas, from neighbors throughout town and the subdivision. This will be a space for constructive feedback and well-intentioned suggestions.

As we know, our town has evolved quickly! We aren’t immune to the downsides of growth, including increased tourism to Boulder County, and increased awareness/ access that comes with the modern age. But we have opportunities to refine what this looks like In a way that best serves our community. 

As a reminder, the Town Council has no authority to force or demand any operating changes from the businesses in town. So, this Committee is formed in a good faith effort for community-driven collaboration, resulting in some helpful recommendations to our business leaders. 

If you would like to contribute your thoughts to questions such as-

• How can we be in the driver’s seat of our own growth? Are there creative ways to harness the potential benefits of business growth to serve the community as a whole?
• Are there solutions to address the above concerns, without unintended negative impact on the businesses in town?
• What recommendations can we put forward that are equitable, actionable, and realistic for all town businesses?
