Invite to Bluebird Bus restoration kick-off party

Posted on: November 9th, 2024

Hi Friends:Hey, swing by 345 Rim Road Saturday, Nov. 16 between 4:30 and 6:30 PM to see our 1915 White Motor Truck that the Gold Hill Museum has come to possess. We want everyone to see this ancient, fabulous old thing that is parked in our front yard, and learn what we need to begin restoring it.

We will have cocktails and heavy appetizers. We will also have a couple of antique automobile aficionados on hand to answer questions and to talk about what we need to move forward.

As many of you know, these trucks were used in Glacier, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountain national parks to transport tourists. Here in Gold Hill, they were used to bring the Blue Bird ladies to their Gold Hill summer residences, and at least one was used by the Walter family to haul products for the store.

In addition, once the Stanley Steamer buses were taken out of service, they were used to carry tourists  to Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel.

This truck, which we believe belonged to the Walter family, is a valuable and important remnant of Gold Hill’s history and that of our mountain region. We’re looking forward to showing you what we’re working on and winning your support.

Please come as early as possible so you can see it while it is still light outside. See you on the 16th!
