FIRE CHIEF’S MINUTES: Chief Gibson, Chief O’Brien and Assistant Chief DeBroux OPERATIONAL NEEDS: Occupancy and Fire Code- Repairs to the public notice sign in front of the Firebarn need to happen. Wind damaged the sign and it is a requirement. Tree in front of the Firebarn went down in the windstorm and volunteers are working to notify the family who owns the property where the tree sits.

OPERATIONAL UPDATES: TRAINING:

  • ●  Past training- RT 130 Training on Saturday- There was an issue with the google doc shareable document where people accidentally deleted each other. Will work on a less confusing sign up for next year.
  • ●  Upcoming training- Gold Hill should send Fritz a thank you
  • ●  New volunteers-
  • Updates
  • We now have a Gold Employee Handbook

MAINTENANCE:
● Station maintenance- Any immediate needs?-

Gutters- update on work?- Work will be completed this week Request from Kris Gibson- Generac auxiliary generator system for when power goes out. How much to install? During the power outage only the school had power and internet due to the fact that the school has fiber optic. Internet and phone was out due to poor planning by CenturyLink. Gold Hill and surrounding districts were without 911 for three days. We need to look at figuring out how to prevent this from happening again.
Board makes a motion to approve that Chris Obrien, new BCFFA president, to represent Gold Hill in the complaint to Century Link regarding the lack of 911.

How can we serve our community when people can’t call 911? Kent and Kris will look at Grant for a Generac Generator System or to see how much a system would cost.
IMA has several generators which it can lend out. How can we continue with this model and expand it?

NEW BUSINESS:

We are missing chairs and tables right now from the firebarn.
Parking is a major problem in town right now and many community members are seeking formal complaints
Several complaints are being investigated regarding streets almost being closed due to a business holding an event.
Do we look at implementing a Fire Code vs. Fire Standard?
Need to address parking issues in town and the interim fire chief/fire marshall needs to have a meeting with business owners asap regarding occupancy and parking issues as we move into high traffic season.
You can exempt certain codes if you choose to take on the County Code.
Jeff Webb MountainView Fire is a very knowledgeable Code Guru.
Would like to have two board members meet with Bret to discuss further
Need to figure out a succession plan for the work Gretchen does.
