Stage 1 fire restrictions to be rescinded for western unincorporated Boulder County

Recent precipitation has decreased fire danger

Boulder County, Colo. – Sheriff Joe Pelle will rescind the Stage 1 fire restrictions at midnight, August 16, that have been in place for western areas of unincorporated Boulder County. This decision was made after careful review of current fuel moisture conditions, long-term forecasts, and fire activity. We will continue to monitor conditions and will reinstate fire restrictions if conditions change.

Residents are reminded that although the fire restrictions will be rescinded, there are still permit requirements in place for slash burning and broadcast burns, also known as prescribed fires or open burning. Permits are available online at: https://www.bouldercounty.org/safety/fire/burn-permits/  or at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, located at 5600 Flatiron Pkwy., Boulder or the Sheriff’s Office Fire Cache, located at 3116 Longhorn Rd., Boulder.

Residents in unincorporated Boulder County are also required to notify the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office prior to starting a permitted burn or agricultural burn by calling non-emergency dispatch at 303-441-4444.
