Allenspark Fire responded to a structure fire at approximately 02:00 Wednesday morning along Highway 7. Crews were released from the scene around 13:30.

Due to deep snow in the driveway, no large firefighting apparatus was able to get to the house. Firefighters were transported to the home via UTVs and used portable fire suppression units, fire extinguishers and one inch wildland fire hose to suppress the fire.

Unfortunately, because of the access difficulties encountered, the house was severely damaged.

Many thanks to our mutual aid fire departments that helped in this fight; Estes Valley Fire Protection District, Hygiene Fire Protection District, Lefthand Fire Protection District, Lyons Fire Protection District, Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District as well as Estes Park Health Ambulance 410.

This is an important reminder to all our residents to have your driveway plowed for emergencies and to have a fire extinguisher always on hand. Also, if you burn in a wood stove or fireplace, we advise that you clean your chimney annually and have a ChimFex or similar chimney fire suppressant nearby.
