Reporters interested in flood recovery stories

Posted on: August 12th, 2014

Dear flood impacted residents,

Similar to the aftermath of the Fourmile Canyon Fire, I’m frequently contacted by print, radio and television reporters who would like to speak with flood survivors about their recovery experiences, especially on anniversary dates. I inform them that I don’t give out names of people to the media. However, I told them that I would send their contact information out in case residents wanted to voluntarily contact reporters and share their stories. No pressure to do so. I just want to let you know that the media is interested in communicating where people are at in the recovery process. If you are interested in being interviewed below are some of the reporters who I’ve spoken with.

Here is the type of story Alex Burness with the Camera is looking for:

“At first, some homeowners thought they were getting virtually nothing from the federal government for major repairs needed after the flood. But over time, various rounds of FEMA funding as well as other financial help have come through. So, how have individuals and businesses in Boulder County fared, generally speaking? I’m looking for stories of triumph, frustration, whatever. Just curious to chat with folks who needed loans, and who’ve gone through the process with FEMA, the SBA, or maybe one of the local long-term recovery groups.”

Newspaper Collecting Stories

In addition, as part of the newspaper’s flood anniversary coverage, they are inviting residents to submit stories which will be featured on an interactive online map on timescall.com,dailycamera.com and reporterherald.com. Please take a second to fill out this very short form via the link below this week and help us show readers the impact (good or bad) that the flood had on our area. And of course, share that link with anyone else you think would be interested. Posts on social media are also welcome!  tinyurl.com/cofloodstory
