Notes on Dec. 16, Planning Commission and notice of BOCC Hearing

Posted on: December 29th, 2009

The Boulder County Planning Commission has now approved our Townsite Plan, which includes our Vision Statement and Map of the CPI area, for inclusion into the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan.  Only one member, Sharon Menard, voted against it because she said we should have  outlined our goals and objectives more clearly.  The other members seemed in general agreement that our Vision Statement, although not presented that way, generally consisted of goals and objectives.  It was also pointed out that The County Commissioners set up this townsite planning process to allow each community to design the process that best fit their needs and situation, while working together to develop their plan and to propose regulations for guiding future preservation and development in their respective communities.   We also have the ability to add to our present plan in the future.  Further issues that have been identified to be worked on, at this time, include Historical Zoning as well as Trails and Open Space.

For more information, see  http://www/bouldercounty.org/lu/townsite_planning/GoldHill.htm  or  contact me at gretchend@nullmac.com.  I really want to thank everyone who participated in our year long process.  I feel like we all tried to do a good job of being inclusive, transparent, and communicative and to enable everyone who was interested to contribute.

quoting Garry Sanfacon (our Land Use staff planner and resource person):

The final step for the Gold Hill Townsite Plan is for the Board of County Commissioners to review it and adopt it into the Land Use Code. The hearing is set for Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2PM. As a reminder, the Planning Commission is responsible for the Comprehensive Plan (they adopted the Gold Hill Townsite Plan into the Comprehensive Plan on Dec. 16) and the Board is responsible for the Land Use Code.
