No Fire Ban

This is from Jay Stalnacker, Boulder County Fire Management Officer

Good morning everyone,

A few folks have been asking about ban/ restrictions. I have talked with JEFFCO, Douglas and Larimer this morning and the general consensus is the we are NOT currently in conditions to warrant any ban or restrictions. The group of FMOs fully understand the concerns with the past few weeks of dry and warm conditions but as you can see from the attached matrix, we are far from implementing any immediate restrictions. Under state law we are required to use a combination of “credible scientific evidence” along with social and political concerns and currently we have 1 of 7 elements supporting restrictions/ban.

The front range FMOs will continue to access the local conditions and keep their respective county cooperators appraised of any changes. We do understand there are isolated areas in all counties that may be in more critical condition but looking at the large scale picture our conditions are fairly normal for this time of year.

Please contact me directly with any concerns or questions.
