Mountain ‘Curb Side’ Community Chipping Event -thru Four Mile Fire Protection District’s Fire Crew.

The Four Mile Fire Protection District is generously offering to chip our slash at no cost.
 Please read entirely.
Chipping Dates: September 29th through October 3rd
How to sign up: Call Kris Gibson @ 303-545-9670 no later than 5:00 pm on September 25th. The earlier the better.
Depending on the level of response (first come first serve), decisions will be made as to what is feasible given the scope of the grant and resources afforded. The Four Mile Fire Protection District has one week of budgeted funding to allow for chipping within their and neighboring districts.
Acceptable Material:
Slash that is 1″ to 6″ in diameter, including burned material (from the Four Mile Fire) as well as green slash.
Material Not Accepted:
-Slash with metal in it!
-Old/moldy/rotten material (it can’t be chipped and is hazardous to handlers)
-Logs or branches over 6 inches in diameter
-Stumps, root balls or raked up pine needles
Agreement: Piles MUST be chipper ready! Piles must be arranged with ALL the butt ends of the branches facing the same direction and towards the road or driveway. The chipper will pull up and the crew members will pull the slash pieces, butt end first, into the chipper. Additionally, the chipper MUST be able to easily back up to the piles or be able to have a LARGE turnaround at the end of a driveway (consider a 40 foot length with truck and chipper).
Unless otherwise requested, ALL Chips will be broadcasted onto the forest floor from the chipper. Raking of chips by the homeowner may be necessary to achieve standard chip depths, per Colorado State Forest Service standards.
Again, you must sign up through GHFPD-Kris Gibson 303-545-9670
