July 14 Bluebird Celebration

Posted on: June 22nd, 2016

Here’s another friendly reminder that your Gold HIll Museum is sponsoring a cocktail party for you, the members of the Gold Hill Community in honor of the Bluebirds of Gold Hill.  For those of you who may have forgotten, the Bluebirds were the professional women from the Chicago area and the Midwest who summered in Gold Hill during the early days of the last century.  Many of the cabins that you see in the old town were owned by these ladies and several current families are connected to these wonderful women.

Earlier this year, the Gold Hill Museum won an award for bringing this Bluebird historical gem to the public’s awareness. Unbeknownst to us, Kirk Ambrose’s from the University of Colorado Art Department had completed a brand new project researching the Bluebirds of Gold Hill and particularly Marie Vanderpoel.  He will be presenting his research to us prior to releasing it to the greater Denver and Boulder areas.  You are invited to join us for this very special Gold Hill cocktail party complete with foods, recipes, and drink made with locally grown plants and herbs.

You are invited to join us for this fun, exciting evening with your friends in the side yard of the Sand Property on Main Street, across Prospector Street from the museum at 5 pm on Thursday evening, July 14th.  RSVPs are required.  If you have already done so we’ll be expecting you.  We hope to see you there.
