Hessie Trailhead Shuttle stop move and schedule change starts this Saturday

Shuttle will now run 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and stop at the Nederland Park-n-Ride

Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County’s free shuttle service to and from the Hessie Trailhead in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area will move from its current location at Nederland Middle/Senior High School to the RTD Park-n-Ride, 300 Jackson St., just off of West 1st Street in Nederland on Saturday morning, Sept. 6. The shuttle will continue using this location as a pick-up/drop-off location until the service ends for the season on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The shuttle runs will continue to run every 15 to 20 minutes, but its hours of operations will be reduced to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Saturday schedule has been shortened to account for less daylight in the evenings.

Helpful riding tips:

  • Take RTD’s ‘N’ route from Boulder
  • Leashed dogs are welcome on the shuttle, but not on the ‘N’ bus

The Hessie Trailhead shuttle program began in summer 2012 to address the issue of increased parking and traffic congestion on the way to the trailhead. The first two years of the program have been increasingly successful, providing over 5,000 rides in 2012 and over 7,000 rides in 2013. This year, the shuttle schedule has been slightly revised and extended to include peak “leaf peeping” weekends in the fall.
