FOURMILE CREEK WATERSHED MASTER PLAN IS COMPLETE

The Fourmile Creek Watershed Master Plan is finished and available on the study’s website,http://www.fourmilemasterplan.com, along with all related study information.

The completion of the plan is a significant milestone in the longer-term flood recovery process for the Fourmile Creek Watershed. The plan presents conceptual channel alignments and restoration strategies to reduce flood risk and restore river and ecological functions. While the majority of the recommended projects in the master plan are unfunded, the plan will be used to seek funding to continue recovery from the September 2013 flood. The Fourmile Creek Watershed Master Plan was funded by a grant by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Boulder County.

Please Note: Bank stabilization, channel alignments, and other projects identified in the Watershed Master Plan are conceptual and provide general guidance. More detailed planning, design and project permitting will occur as funding is secured and projects initiated.  Public engagement will continue for projects on a site-specific basis.

HOW THE FOURMILE CREEK WATERSHED MASTER PLAN CAME TOGETHER

• From August to October 2014, ecological, geomorphic and flood risk analysis took place, in addition to a community meeting and one-on-one conversations with government agencies, residents, and other watershed stakeholders to gain input on focus areas for the Plan.

• The Draft Watershed Master Plan was released in early November. Community meetings were held to present recommendations and collect public input to further refine them. Community members provided comments through November 14, 2014, and the Project Team used this input to refine the Plan. Boulder County provided a final technical review of the Plan and it is now finalized.
