Community Meetings Scheduled for the Kick-Off of the Left Hand Creek Watershed Master Planning Process

The public is invited to learn about the Left Hand Creek Watershed Master Plan and about opportunities to provide input

Boulder County, Colo. – The public is invited to attend an upcoming community meeting to learn about the ongoing process to develop the Left Hand Creek Watershed Master Plan. The community meetings are being hosted by the Left Hand Creek Coalition (LHCC), made up of local, state and federal agencies and groups that operate in the Left Hand Creek Watershed and have organized to coordinate master plan activities.

To initiate the public process for the master plan, the LHCC is conducting two public meetings

Thursday, July 31

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Altona Grange

9386 N. 39th St., Longmont

Wednesday, August 6

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Greenbriar Inn

8735 N. Foothills Hwy, Boulder

The watershed master plan also will be discussed at the regular Jamestown community meeting on Tuesday, August 5.

The purpose of the public meetings is to inform the public on what long-term flood recovery issues will be addressed by the watershed master plan, help stakeholders deepen their understanding about the nature of the 2013 Flood, obtain input from the public on focus areas for the master plan, and let the public know how they can provide input throughout the process.

The Left Hand Creek Watershed Master Plan is being developed to help identify future priority projects that will restore the creek corridor and reduce future flood risk to public and private infrastructure. The master plan will also focus on preserving, enhancing, and restoring the creek’s natural environment, and will identify priority projects that meet community needs to be implemented as funding becomes available.

Community involvement is critical to the success of the master plan and is essential to incorporate local needs of residents, property owners and the broader public into long-term planning for the Left Hand Creek watershed.

The LHCC looks forward to hosting the community meetings. The LHCC is currently made up of the following entities:

  • Boulder County
  • City of Longmont
