Bake/rummage/craft sale/fundraising ideas

October 1st, 2013

Bake/rummage/craft sale/fundraising ideas

Several of us met 9-30-13 (Peter Swift, Tony Vrba, Susan Fernalld, Diane Mehsling, and I) to look at what we might do about our GHTM fall fundraiser.  Given the road/traffic situation and the plea from the County to minimize our driving, we decided that we should not hold our regular event.  However, we would like to help our flood impacted neighbors.  Deb Yeager will be back in town on Thurs, Oct. 3 and we will look at our options.

From today’s Daily Camera: “A donation center for flood victims will be opening.  The 4 Mile Store for community flood relief has secured a location at 2545 Central Avenue in Boulder and is expected to open by the end of the week.  The “store” will accept donations and provide gently used clothes, toys and other goods to area victims of the floods.  For more information, go to 4milestore.org.”  We encourage Gold Hillians to donate directly, or bring your donations to Tony Vrba at 240 Dixon Road, 303 570-7403, any time between 8 am and 10 pm and she and Susan will make trips there.

In addition, we can donate to:

www.rebuildjamestownco.org

www.Lyonscf.org

www.unitedwayfoothills.org/floodrelief

We’re considering a more local craft and bake sale (not widely advertised), and maybe some smaller  (indoor?) events later (Pie in the Sky/bake sale, chili cook off…….).  Then do something like a small bake/rummage/craft sale in the spring and our more regular event in the fall, to raise more funds for our flood impacted neighbors as well as replenish the town funds.

Please bring any additional ideas to help our flood impacted neighbors to the Gold Hill Town Meeting on Monday, October 14th, at 7:30 at the Community Center

The Gold Rush…

September 11th, 2011

…is happening next  Sunday, September 18th from 10 am to 3 pm.  Don’t forget to use this time to donate GREAT items and lighten up that clutter.  Remember, all items must be at the Inn’s parking lot not later than 9:30 on Sunday morning.  You can bring items as early as 8 am.

Baked Good…we need them.  Bake up a lot of them on Saturday and bring them to the Bluebird Lodge front porch from 8 am to 9:45 am on Sunday morning.

We need you to come and enjoy the day.  We will have live music, beer on tap, pasties, ice cream, artists and crafts people, a silent auction on many items including a donated handmade quilt and lots for you to purchase.  This is a great place for you to begin your holiday shopping.  Look for Adriana at the ticket table to purchase tickets for your foods and have your money ready for the artists and the rummage sale.   We’re anxious to see you and hope you enjoy all of our efforts.  Remember, we never had a rummage sale last year.  Here is your chance to help us raise money for the town.  We’re counting on you to tell you friends and neighbors.

Gold Hill Gold Rush 2011

August 15th, 2011

RUMMAGE ITEMS

It’s that time to start thinking about the “Main Money Maker of the Year for our Town”, and we need your help.  We are having our annual bake/rummage/arts & crafts sale on Sunday, September 18th from 10 to 3 in the Inn’s parking lot. As usual, we need your rummage items, but we’re asking you to give some careful thought to what you donate this year.  In the past we’ve had a lot of things left over and we’d like to avoid as much of that as possible.

This year we need you to bring your items to the Inn’s parking lot between 8 and 9 am on Sunday morning, September 18th.  We will NOT be collecting things in advance this year.  If your item isn’t there by 9:45 am, please don’t bring it.

Additionally, we have a team that will be responsible for taking any leftover rummage items after the event to Boulder on Monday, September 19th to donate them to a thrift shop, BUT we really need you to be diligent about giving us only sellable items.  Please don’t bring us things that aren’t in good shape.   We do request that you to take back any large items that don’t sell, and, please, no electronics.

BAKED GOODS

Your wonderful baked goods have always been the foundation of our sale.  We will be selling baked goods (as well as ice cream and pasties) on the porch of the Hotel.  Please bring them between 9 and 10, so we can get everything set up.

PASTIES PRESELL

If you are looking for a great lunch or dinner treat, consider preordering your pasties.  We will be taking orders for pasties that you can pick up on Sunday, September 18th.  The cost is $3.00 a piece and we will have both meat and vegetarian pasties.  Contact Debra to place your order.  All orders must be receive by September 1, 2011.

MUSICIANS

We will be having live music this year generously provided by Crystal and Bill Atkinson, et al.  We are also looking for “local buskers.”  You may keep any money you raise, but we request that you donate a share of any proceeds to the town effort..  We want to locate you on Main Street around the rummage sale area and in front of the Inn.  If you play an instrument and would like to try your hand at buskering, please let me know.  ALL AGES are invited to participate.  Definition:  Busker – a person who entertains in a public place for donations (according to Daniel Webster and his dictionary!)

VOLUNTEERS

If you would like to assist the various crews that are currently working on making this a success, please let us know as soon as possible.  We are looking for people to help carry items, set up, tear down, drivers, and many other things.  We would love to have your help to make this the best bake and rummage sale ever.  Remember, more monies for our town means more monies for mitigation, grant opportunities and helping our neighbors.  Your help is always appreciated.
